Medical Indicators of Child Abuse and Neglect: Bruises and Patterned Injuries
with Stephanie Mondelli, DNP, RN, SANE
The Medical Indicators training provides education to foster parents on early signs of child maltreatment, such as bruising. This training engages the foster parents, as well as provide examples (pictures) of concerning skin findings and how to address these concerns with DCBS.
Stephanie Mondelli is the Nurse Program Administrator for the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services, Division of Protection and Permanency. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Nursing Organizational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University and is also a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE). With over 16 years of clinical experience, Stephanie has worked to improve outcomes for children across the state.
Stephanie’s experience prior to coming to this role was in pediatric forensic medicine and providing medical evaluations for child maltreatment. Stephanie is passionate about advocating for children to ensure all their physical and mental health needs are met.
