Description
Understanding Trauma and how it affects children can be very difficult. Because trauma can be experienced in a uniquely personal way, a child’s reaction to the trauma can also be just as unique. In addition to understanding trauma, it is important to recognize children who have experienced trauma such as abuse, neglect, domestic violence, community violence, and the like, can continue to experience the effects of this trauma long after they have been removed from the situation or the source. Knowing and understanding what trauma is and how it can affect children has implications for how caregivers provide structure, discipline, support, and empathy, while remaining sensitive to the child’s past experiences.
Join us on May 9, from 5:30 pm – 7 pm where we will gain a better understanding of what trauma is, how it affects our children, and how caregivers can support these children as they work through the trauma.
