Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify current gaps in traditional supervision models related to addressing LGBTQIA+ identities, experiences, and clinical needs.
  2. Describe the core principles and components of the AFFIRM Supervision Model and its relevance to affirming LGBTQIA+ supervisees and clients. Apply the AFFIRM Supervision Model to supervision scenarios to support inclusive, ethical, and culturally responsive practice.
  3. Evaluate how affirming supervision practices influence supervisee development, professional identity, and service quality for LGBTQIA+ populations.

Presenter Bio

Tracy has been a Licensed Social Worker in Ohio for 13 years. She is working in addictions and community behavioral health. She is also an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Kentucky, teaching Psychopathology. She is graduating with her Doctorate in Social Work in May 2026 with a research focus on reducing LGBTQ+ microaggressions in therapy by applying the AFFIRM Supervision Model, emphasizing active listening, cultural competency, and continuous learning.

Credit Hours: 1.0 (ACE)

Target Audience: This conference is intended for social workers and students.

Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
