- Apply quality improvement and best-practice models to enhance service delivery and improve treatment outcomes, and improve the quality of life of individuals with substance use disorders.
Presenter Bio
As a border region person, living in both places, I have gained knowledge of the community difficulties both regions experience and someway affects one another, such as violence, substance use, and poverty. I have the opportunity to work for a non-profit organization with individuals who suffer from substance use disorders, which caught my attention due to the lack of services our community faces. Both regions have different laws and services, and the absence of strong professional collaboration between the two regions. My research project will focus on substance use disorder (SUD) with the Hispanic population in the United States and Mexico border region, utilizing social cognitive theory and exploring self-efficacy and social influence as main factors. Creating and implementing a cross-international context in El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. It will operate by offering effective resources such as support groups, harm reduction, and anger management courses. It will allow professionals to build collaboration and implement new strategies in their communities. This proposal will lead to preventive methods and the reduction of mortality from overdoses, infectious blood diseases, and Hepatitis B. One main purpose of this investigation is to utilize this cross-international framework in other border region areas.
