Presenter Bio:
Valente Orozco is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and Certified Gestalt Therapist with children, adolescents, and adults. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social work from California State University, Fresno, as well as a Pupil Personnel Services credential. Valente is currently a doctoral candidate with a clinical concentration at the University of Kentucky, College of Social Work.
His clinical work and doctoral research interests in Gestalt therapy with children culminate in his capstone project, Relational Gestalt Play Therapy: Recentering Relationality in Gestalt Therapy with Children and Adolescents. Valente began his career focused on children’s well-being, with internships in Child Welfare Services and school-based practice. He has devoted much of his career to the study and practice of Gestalt therapy and, in 2019, co-authored an article on Gestalt play therapy for Play Therapy Magazine’s special issue on seminal theories in play therapy.
In private practice, he focuses not only on the reasons individuals seek therapy but also on how these struggles emerge from relational dynamics in their lives. Serving as a trainer at multiple Gestalt therapy institutes, including The West Coast Institute for Gestalt Therapy with Children and Adolescents, he strives to provide trainees with relational experiences that foster learning of theory while building self-awareness that can support lasting healing and growth for their clients. He has given in-person trainings nationally and internationally in Mexico and Korea, and regularly works with therapists from around the world online.
