  3. Explain how family-centered and trauma-informed theories inform sibling-inclusive social work practice.

Presenter Bio:

Tylisaea Bonner, LMSW, is a Doctor of Social Work candidate with a concentration in clinical social work at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Georgia and has professional experience providing clinical services to children, adolescents, and families across educational and community-based settings. She currently serves in a small school district in North-West Georgia as a school social worker, and she also practices as a therapist in a local private practice.

Mrs. Bonner’s clinical and leadership interests include family systems, chronic illness and disability, sibling dynamics, and the emotional needs of often overlooked family members. Her practice is informed by trauma-responsive, strengths-based, and relational frameworks, with an emphasis on integrating clinical practice with systems-level leadership within schools and allied service settings.

Mrs. Bonner’s capstone research, titled, Sibling Experiences in Families with Chronic Illness or Disability: Relationship Patterns and Emotional Needs, examines the emotional and relational impact on siblings who frequently experience invisibility within the family system, a phenomenon commonly described in the literature as “glass children.” Through a systematic review of the literature, this work seeks to address gaps in clinical recognition and to inform the development of more inclusive, family-centered standards of care within social work and interdisciplinary practice.

Mrs. Bonner is committed to advancing ethical, evidence-informed, and equity-centered social work practice through clinical leadership, scholarship, and service within educational and community systems.
