Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Identify common work-related stressors experienced by social work practitioners and identify how organizational and systemic factors contribute to heightened stress.
- Apply a systems and ecological/person-in-environment perspective to conceptualize work-related stress in social work practice beyond individual-level explanations.
- Describe core components of Holistic Systems-Informed Supervision (HSIS) and explain how this model functions as a supervisory framework.
Presenter Bio:
Tessa Hill, LISW-S, LICDC, is a dually licensed clinician in Ohio and a social work doctoral candidate at the University of Kentucky with a concentration in administrative leadership. Tessa obtained her bachelor’s degree in social work from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2020 and her master’s degree in social work from Ohio University in 2021. Tessa currently serves as the Clinical Director of New Heights Recovery Center of Ohio, an outpatient dual diagnosis treatment center in the Columbus, Ohio area.
Tessa has a variety of social work experiences, spanning from direct intervention with high-risk populations in the field of corrections and behavioral health to clinical oversight and supervision for social workers in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As a professional with clinical and supervisory experience, Tessa’s capstone research aims to highlight the significance of holistic clinical supervision to appropriately identify and address common work-related stressors experienced by social work practitioners.
Tessa previously served as Co-Director for Region 5 of the National Association of Social Workers (Ohio Chapter). During her time with NASW, Tessa presented at the Statewide Ohio Conference, sharing her expertise on post-incarceration syndrome and appropriate support for societal reentry. Tessa continues to give back to the social work profession through work as a field instructor for practicum students from various universities. Tessa strives to guide the next generation of social workers through quality supervision and mentorship.

Target Audience: This conference is intended for social workers and students.
Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
