Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Advocate for Health Equity Through Education: Understand how federally mandated eCSE can serve as a tool for advancing health equity and social justice, particularly for marginalized populations.
- Address Barriers to Implementation: Identify and navigate cultural, policy, and resource-based challenges that social workers may encounter when advocating for or supporting the adoption of inclusive sex education programs.
- Promote Youth Empowerment: Support youth as advocates for health equity and social justice by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to challenge systemic inequities through education.
Presenter Bio:
Shauntenette Telepak, LCSW and Certified Sex Therapist, is a dedicated advocate for sexual health and social justice. Shaun proudly served 26 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, where she honed her leadership skills and deepened her commitment to service and community. Shaun holds three master’s degrees: Leadership Studies-Organizational from the University of Texas at El Paso, Sexual Health from the University of Minnesota, and Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Social Work degree at the University of Kentucky, where her capstone project, Advancing Social Justice and Health Equity: A Social Work Perspective on Implementing Federally Mandated Comprehensive Sex Education in U.S. Schools, reflects her commitment to systemic change.
As the owner of a private practice in Texas, Shaun specializes in sexual health, providing compassionate care and guidance to her clients. She is an active member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists and the National Association of Black Social Workers, where she contributes to advancing her profession. Shaun’s research focuses on assessing the behavioral, emotional, and health outcomes of youth exposed to various sexual health curricula to inform evidence-based practices. Her dedication to excellence has earned her membership in Phi Alpha, a distinction recognizing her academic and professional achievements. With a unique blend of expertise in leadership, social work, and sexual health, Shaun is committed to empowering individuals and communities while advocating for comprehensive, inclusive, and equitable sexual health education nationwide.
Delivery Method: Live Interactive Training via Zoom Video Conferencing
Credit Hours: 1.0 (ACE)
Target Audience: This conference is intended for social workers and students.
Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
