Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize the systemic impact of the lack of culturally responsive leadership and aligned services in youth residential services.
  2. Understand the proposed systemic culturally responsive leadership framework (S-CRL) and integrated frameworks for organizational leadership.
  3. Identify evidence-based administrative and practical interventions and strategies for leadership and clinical teams working in adolescent residential group homes.

Presenter Bio

Shantelle Castle is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed School Social Worker (SSW/SAC). Shantelle is currently a Doctor of Social Work Candidate and is pursuing the advanced degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. Shantelle has a Master’s degree in social work from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

Currently, Shantelle is the Division Director at the NFI, Massachusetts, overseeing programmatic and clinical services for five adolescent residential programs in the Northeastern region of Massachusetts. Shantelle owns and operates Castle Counseling and Equity Consulting, LLC, which provides comprehensive clinical and equity-centered therapy and IEP support for youth and families. Shantelle is also an adjunct lecturer at Boston University, teaching courses in child trauma, adult trauma, and racial justice and cultural oppression. Shantelle’s experience in social work includes working as a clinical social worker in group homes, inpatient units, emergency departments, and as the Director of Equity and Counseling for a school district.

Shantelle is passionate about creating transformative change through intentional social work. As a social worker and diversity, equity, and inclusion educator, Shantelle brings a trauma-informed leadership approach grounded in empathy, authenticity, and a deep commitment to social equity. Shantelle’s passion aligns with her capstone project, which focuses on implementing culturally responsive leadership practices in residential and group home settings.

Credit Hours: 1.0 (ACE)

Target Audience: This conference is intended for social workers and students.

Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
