Navigating Barriers: The Intersectional Challenges Faced by Women of Color in Leadership within Higher Education
The presentation will start with an introduction to the research, offering an overview of the capstone project and its importance in understanding the barriers women of color face in higher education leadership. It will then explore the concept of intersectionality and discuss its relevance to women of color’s experiences in academic environments. The discussion will then focus on the specific challenges these leaders encounter, including systemic racism, gender bias, and cultural stereotypes.
The presentation will also examine how these challenges affect professional advancement, well-being, and feelings of belonging in academic settings. It will provide insights into the experiences of women of color, highlighting their resilience and strategies to overcome obstacles. The importance of diversity in leadership will also be discussed, emphasizing how diverse perspectives enhance decision-making and drive innovation in higher education institutions.

These circles aim to create inclusive environments that foster the leadership development of women of color.
