Her academic path includes both a Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. Her professional role is as Regional Director of Mental Health and Professional Development at Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County.
Her leadership in the role focuses on the development of programs that help in emotional well-being, staff development, and also as a way of ensuring that students are equipped with local services to overcome their situation. Key influential concepts behind her work include nonprofit leadership, efforts across the wider society, and how neighborhoods promote mental health, particularly the care of people with developmental disabilities. Her capstone project is Exploring Effective Nonprofit Strategies to Support Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Community Settings, examining valid strategies that nonprofits employ to empower adults with IDD within the communities they serve.
Such plans emphasize long-term relationships, more convenient mobility between services, and better everyday living results. The experiences of years in school and the groups around her influenced the way Hayden perceives things. Hayden’s work is informed by extensive experience in crisis intervention, program development, and cross-sector collaboration within school and community settings. Her research and practice emphasize ethical leadership, systems-level solutions, and the advancement of equitable access to mental health and disability services.
