Learning Objectives:

- Participants will be able to describe key implementation barriers and facilitators for delivering CBT in high school settings.
- Participants will be able to apply contextual adaptations to CBT that align with school schedules, culture, and student needs while maintaining fidelity.
Presenter Bio
Linda Askew, LCSW, is a Doctoral Candidate in the Doctor of Social Work program at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and was inducted into Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from Norfolk State University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
She currently serves as a supervisor for a school-based mental health and student support program within a public school division in Virginia, providing clinical oversight, staff development, and program leadership. The role includes supervising student support specialists and licensed mental health professionals, implementing programs, and leading grant-supported initiatives addressing student mental health, safety, and academic engagement, with an emphasis on trauma-informed practice and the integration of services within educational systems.
Her research interests include school-based mental health interventions, adolescent depression, trauma-informed care, and clinical supervision in educational settings. The capstone project examines training models, implementation strategies, and contextual adaptations that support the delivery of cost-effective, school-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to reduce depressive symptoms in high school students. The project is grounded in Ecological Systems Theory and emphasizes practical application in secondary school settings.
Her scholarly interests focus on implementation research examining training, supervision, and contextual adaptation of evidence-based mental health interventions in schools, with particular emphasis on equity, organizational readiness, and system-level factors that support effective service delivery for students.

Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
