Presenter Bio
Chasity Lynn Mitchell, MSW, MJLP, is a Doctoral Candidate in Social Work at the University of Kentucky, with an anticipated completion date of 2026. She holds a Master of Social Work and a Master of Justice Leadership and Policy from Eastern Kentucky University, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work from Morehead State University. Ms. Mitchell has dedicated the past 15 years to Mountain Comprehensive Care Center in Eastern Kentucky, where her professional work has focused exclusively on substance use treatment and justice-involved populations. She began her career in the organization’s inpatient substance abuse treatment program before transitioning into outpatient roles serving Drug Court participants, probation and parole clients, and other court-ordered individuals. Over time, her work increasingly centered on reentry-focused practice, including roles as a reentry therapist and her current position as a Reentry Case Manager.
Ms. Mitchell provides reentry case management and clinical support to individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community, many of whom are probation- or parole-involved or court-referred following incarceration. She also serves as the therapist for the Alcohol and Substance Intensive Abuse Program within probation and parole services and is a PRI-certified DUI Instructor, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based, court-responsive, and trauma-informed care. Ms. Mitchell’s doctoral research and capstone project focus on rural reentry, examining systemic gaps, service accessibility, and continuity of care for formerly incarcerated individuals returning to underserved Appalachian communities.
