Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Identify key drivers for racial disparities in menopause care for Black women.
- Describe the theoretical foundations that guide culturally responsive menopause care and their relevance to clinical social work practice.
- Analyze how VOICE-M supports empowerment, advocacy, and equitable outcomes within clinical social work treatment for Black women experiencing menopause.
Presenter Bio
Carmetra D. Grant-Johnson, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in Georgia. She earned her Master of Social Work from Boston University and her Bachelor of Human Services from Shorter University (Rome, Georgia). She is currently a Doctor of Social Work candidate at the University of Kentucky.
Mrs. Grant-Johnson is the sole owner of The Mending Room, LLC, where, as a psychotherapist, she provides culturally responsive mental health services to diverse client populations, with a primary focus on supporting Black women. She is committed to centering Black women’s lived experiences and needs within clinical social work practice and research. Her capstone project, “Unmuted: Centering Black Women’s Menopause Experiences to Advance Health Equity in Clinical Social Work Practice,” reflects her dedication to advancing equitable, culturally attuned care for underserved populations. Through this work, she examines the intersection of culture, race, gender, socioeconomic status, and social determinants of health that contribute to systemic barriers in menopause-related assessment, education, and treatment among Black women.
Mrs. Grant-Johnson is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated; the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW); the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society; and the Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work, underscoring her ongoing commitment to professional excellence, scholarship, and service.

Target Audience: This conference is intended for social workers and students.
Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
