Ms. Figueroa works as a therapist at Novant Health, providing intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization therapy to individuals diagnosed with both mental health disorders and substance use disorders.

Ms. Figueroa is the director and provider at Liv Counseling PLLC, a private practice offering psychotherapy to working professionals and those seeking flexible, lifestyle-adapted care. Ms. Figueroa scholarly research centers on food insecurity and healthcare disparities among African American and Latinx women, reflecting her commitment to health equity, social determinants, and culturally responsive practice.

As a practitioner-scholar, her research employs a Black feminist framework to address systemic barriers in order to improve outcomes for African American women diagnosed with HIV. The research examines how equity-centered interventions grounded in Black feminist theory address structural and institutional barriers, enhance patient engagement, and support sustained participation in HIV care. The capstone emphasizes implementation strategies that translate theory into practice, including empowerment-based approaches, community-guided models of care, and institutional accountability within healthcare systems.

Ms. Figueroa is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and remains actively engaged in community service and volunteer efforts across North Carolina. Her professional practice integrates clinical expertise, leadership, and advocacy to advance equitable, culturally responsive, and sustainable behavioral health interventions for marginalized populations within interdisciplinary healthcare settings and community-based service delivery systems today.
