Presenter Bio

Amanda Jean Hawley, BSW, MSW, Doctoral Candidate, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wyoming and Oregon whose scholarly and professional interests focus on culturally responsive supervision, student support, and equitable access to social work education. Originally from Wyoming, Hawley earned her Bachelor of Social Work in 2018 and Master of Social Work in 2019 and achieved clinical licensure in 2021 before relocating to Oregon. Her scholarship is informed by lived experience as a bi-racial individual and a sustained commitment to advancing access and support for minority and non-traditional students in higher education.

Hawley serves as a clinical licensure supervisor and clinical internship coordinator at New Narrative Integrative Mental Health, a nonprofit community mental health organization in Portland, Oregon. In this role, she provides supervision to provisionally licensed clinicians and MSW practicum students and coordinates field placements across eight universities nationwide. Her professional background includes crisis response, suicide prevention education, work with transitional-aged youth, and services for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Her leadership and professional engagement include membership in the Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society from 2016 to 2018, serving as President of the Wyoming chapter from 2017 to 2018, and serving as Vice President of the Associated Masters Students of Social Work student organization from 2018 to 2019. A member of the National Association of Social Workers since 2019, Hawley has presented on suicide prevention in higher education at the Wyoming Counseling Association and NASW–Wyoming Joint Annual Conference in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
