Social Work Ethics for Kentucky Licensure Renewal examines the code of ethical conduct set forth in 201 KAR 23:080 and the NASW Code of Ethics. This online course is designed for all social work professionals practicing in Kentucky, including licensed clinical social workers.

This course is geared for professionals at the basic, intermediate, advanced and clinical levels.

By the conclusion of this course, participants will:

• Understand the importance and complexity of ethical considerations in social work practice settings
• Explore the NASW Code of Ethics and other moral and ethical frameworks
• Identify approaches to ethical thought and decision-making
• Develop a framework for addressing ethical issues in professional social work practice

Sheryl Withers Woolverton designed the content for this course. Sheryl is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville. She has worked as a counselor in the field of domestic violence and served as a grief counselor at Hospice of the Bluegrass for twelve years. She currently has a private clinical practice specializing in life transitions and is a part-time instructor in the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky.

This online course is approved for 3.0 hours of continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Social Work and fulfills the Kentucky Ethics requirement for Social Workers.

The University of Kentucky College of Social Work, ACE Approval #1377, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. The UK College of Social Work maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period 9/29/2019 - 9/29/2022. Social workers completing this course receive three continuing education credits.

This course is also approved for 3.0 continuing education hours by the Kentucky Board of Social Work, the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology, the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, and the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board.
