Presenter Bio

Rebecca Moreno is a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Social Work program at the University of Kentucky. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The City College of New York and a Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. Her academic and professional training reflect a strong commitment to trauma-informed, evidence-based social work practice across complex systems of care.

Rebecca currently works as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at an embedded behavioral health clinic supporting active-duty service members. In this capacity, she provides direct clinical services and collaborates closely with medical providers and military leadership to address behavioral health needs. Her work emphasizes building rapport and community, understanding military culture, managing cumulative stress, and analyzing the interactions among individual, family, and organizational systems.

Her capstone centers on military children experiencing parental separation due to deployment, unaccompanied tours, and high operational tempos. Her project explores trauma-informed, resilience-based strategies for supporting military families, with a particular focus on attachment, caregiver functioning, and coordinated, accessible systems of care. Overall, her practice interests include trauma therapy, parenting, and strengthening family systems. Rebecca’s professional focus is on translating research into practice to improve outcomes for service members, children, and families while promoting culturally responsive and system-level approaches within social work.
