- Identify the techniques strategic leaders incorporate to use their influence to support innovation in their organizations
Presenter Bio
Joy Spice, LCSW, Doctoral Candidate, who completed her Master’s in Social Work at Asbury University in 2016 and received her license from the state of Kentucky in 2019. She began her doctoral journey at the University of Kentucky in 2024 with an expected graduation in May 2026. Joy’s research interests focus on enhancing care for individuals diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders through nature-based therapeutic interventions. Her capstone project, “Enhancing the Neurocognitive Care Experience: Exploring the Combination of Supportive Leadership, Innovation, and Person-Centered Approaches to Shape Best Practices,” highlights her goal of improving the quality of healthcare experiences for people coping with cognitive deficits and their caregivers by implementing individualized care modalities.
Joy is a military veteran working at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Lexington, KY. She has 10 years of experience in medical social work and hospice and palliative care, with extensive experience working with the geriatric population. In her current role, she provides support to veterans and their caregivers. Following graduation, Joy plans to continue to use her expertise to serve the veteran population and the people who care for them.

Target Audience: This conference is intended for social workers and students.
Accreditation: University of Kentucky College of Social Work, Provider # 1377, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/29/25-9/29/28. Social workers participating in this conference will receive up to 15 general continuing education credits.
