Greetings foster/adoptive parents and caregivers!

Becoming a foster and/or adoptive parent can present its own unique challenges, especially when the children involved have a complex history of trauma.

The Foster Parent Training Program, housed at the UK TRC, is offering a virtual training series focused on equipping foster/adoptive parents and other caregivers with the information and tools required to meet the needs of these children through a trauma-informed perspective.

Stewards of Children: Darkness to Light Child Sexual Abuse Training

Stewards of Children® is an evidence-informed, award-winning two-hour training that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Through interviews with child sexual abuse survivors, experts, and treatment providers, Stewards of Children® teaches adults practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities. This training is approved for 2 credit hours of ongoing, elective training credit for Kentucky foster parents. This training will be delivered in a live, interactive, virtual setting. A reliable internet connection and computer/ smartphone with webcam are required.
