Description

This 90-minute session will assist therapists in how to recognize attachment disruptions shape regulation and relationship patterns in families. Participants will learn core principles from current attachment and adoption‑informed treatment models and practice at least three concrete interventions, including emotional attunement strategies, reflective functioning prompts, and rupture–repair techniques. This training is practical, skills‑based, and designed to support clinicians working with adoptive families.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Explain how attachment disruptions influence emotional regulation, communication, and relational dynamics within families. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply core principles from current attachment/adoption-informed models within a family therapy context.  
  • Apply at least three attachment focused interventions (e.g. emotional attunement strategies, rupture-repair work, reflective functioning prompts) in clinical practice.

Instructor

Tisha Gaynor, MSSA, LISW-S, LCSW, RPT-S 

Tisha Gaynor is a Licensed Clinical Social Work and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, with advanced training in trauma-informed care and attachment-based interventions. She earned her undergraduate degree from Xavier University and her graduate degree from Case Western Reserve University. Tisha currently leads the mental health program at the International Adoption Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where she specializes in supporting children and families through trauma and attachment-focused therapeutic approaches that foster healing and resilience. Tisha’s therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, DBT, CPP, Theraplay, and CBT to support children and families navigating challenges including attachment, adjustment, anxiety, and executive functioning.
